About Us

Awaken Manhattan was organized by a group of local pastors and Christian leaders in Manhattan, Kansas to educate, equip, and encourage Christians to stand firm on Biblical Truth amidst cultural and political tides that stray from God's revealed will for us as a people and a city. We also exist to offer a Biblical and informed response to such issues for all people and to commend Christ as our only hope for true life, freedom and happiness.

We are currently addressing a proposed city-wide anti-discrimination ordinance that gives sexual orientation and gender identity the status of "protected classes." We desire to stand in opposition to this ordinance while attempting to promote love, respect, mutual understanding, and compassion toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) individuals.

We are citizens who share a love for and allegiance to Jesus Christ and all that God reveals to us through His Word, the Bible. We desire to honor God in every aspect of our lives and to share this source of life and joy with others. As we stand in our community and see proposals such as this ordinance emerge, we will do all we can to shed light on the unintended consequences it and other proposals like it may have in hindering or preventing free expression of the religious and moral convictions of all citizens, including the members of our respective congregations.
